Every canvas starts as a sketch, usually a bad one. Libby draws fast and loose, chasing an idea before it gets away from her. Madi comes in after and asks the boring, essential questions: does this fit a standard size, is the palette actually stitchable, will this survive being painted at 13 mesh as well as 18.
Once a design survives that conversation, it gets traced onto the canvas by hand and painted in acrylic, one colour family at a time. A single canvas can take a full day of painting before it's ready to photograph and list.
We paint the house line ourselves, in the studio, usually with the same argument about how many colours is too many. It's rarely fewer than eleven.
